I found this in Arisuka's Kirk Hammet thread. He uses the same hair.

I have now no other options but to find the other conversion of that hair (which has slightly different textures) and convert that for males.

Edit: Okay failed with converting that other hair for males. *sigh*
The only option that I can think of now, is to somehow track down somebody who would happen to have this hair in their own game.

Got it!

The hair DOES work, but as it came with a package of THREE other hair conversions it only works within a combination with the FEMALE version, because that is the file that contains all the textures.

I've downloaded the full pack from here at 4shared. There is another download identical to this one and you can find it if you do a search. Notice the 2,49 MB size compared to the 124 KB of the male version alone.

The thing is, the male version is within this package. It just uses the textures from the female version. All the others from the package do. So you need to install the female version + any of the other ones. Maybe all of them if you want to be safe.

I've tested this and this fixed it for me. Fully working male hair + all other genders and ages.
