A great big thank you for this one! When it comes to grabbing a Genie lamp. we need all the help we can get. It's also really nice to have a choice of flavors to experiment with, and see which works the best for us...Making sure we completely uninstall one version before trying another, of course! One thing that always has me scratching me head,
is the people who post about using the few small cheats that EA's developers program into the game for themselves and for US to use. They invariably adopt the same superior attitude
"I'm a better player than YOU are because I NEVER cheat!" These folks also cop the same Hoity Toity manner when it comes to using Third Party Content. "I never use anything but EA content in MY game!"
All of these players behave as though using a cheat, or playing any way other than STRAIGHT VANILLA violate some sort of sacred oath or gamer's code. The more I think about it the less sense it makes. There is absolutely NOTHING wrong with playing "Vanilla" - No CC. And, if you'd rather not use the few, small cheats that EA's Developers put into the game for THEIR and then OUR use, that's absolutely cool with me! But, really, do you have to inject that Superior, "I never cheat! manner whenever the ssubject comes up? Using the "cheats" that EA's Developers program into the game, really isn't cheating at all. If EA's Designers and Developers thought that these shortcuts were indeed cheating, they would have completely removed them before the game was released! Second, if they wanted players to adhere strictly to EA Designer Content, they would hardly create something like The Exchange, where players can openly upload their own designs, creations, and custom world and share them with one another. If EA weren't encouraging the use of Mods and Third Party Content, why would they spend so much time handing out Kudos to Simmers who design and publish their own Sims websites, make movies, and Machinima? Logic dictates that they would choose the opposite approach.
So, why the attitude? Why act as though those of us who DO turn to the little shortcuts, that make the game, for us, less tedious and more fun, are NOT AS IMPORTANT as you? Why do you hint that adding third party content to the game, like someone in professional sports who uses steroids, disqualifies us as genuine players?
This has always been something that has never made sense to me. Can you explain?
