Thank goodness! My daughter (the little 4yo Goth in training) is always asking for ghosts on her lots and I get tired of killing all the neighbors to satisfy her eccentric tastes.

Doesn't appear
It doesn't appear in the catalogue. I use a mac but all hacks until now have worked. Sims 2 for mac works in the same way that the pc version does except it works on a mac.

Try looking under miscellaneous. It actually appears in the icon as an urn.

I'm currently working on the platinum gravestones. These should be finished by tomorrow. I'm also making an option to remove the ghost from the grave and making it so that deleting the gravestone doesn't delete your character data.

Okay, I've updated it and added in the platinum urn/gravestones. You'll find them on the first page. I've also given them their own unique GUIDs (registered GUIDs) so there shouldn't be any conflicts.

How will this work once Nightlife comes out and the gravestones can be added to the Sims' inventories and transferred to community cemeteries? I would imagine it would probably conflict, but if it stops deletion of default gravestones removing character data, I hope you can find a way around any conflict because being able to stop this happening is a major breakthrough. I will test that aspect of it tomorrow.

Naturally, you won't be able to add these gravestones to a sims inventory once nightlife comes out. However, these gravestones are cloned from the original so do not replace the default. The gravematters may or may not conflict. That depends if they change the script to two of the BHAVs I extracted. But I will definitely look into this once NL comes out.

Is there anyway to make summoning a ghost cost simoleons? It would be a great way to satisfy the want to see a ghost, and costing simoleons would make it more balanced.

Actually, just because you summon a ghost doesn't necessarily mean that the Sim in question is going to see it. Seeing a ghost is a matter of chance, as far as I know there's no way to make a Sim see a ghost even if the ghost is right there in front of them. The ghost has to decide that they want to show themselves to a Sim (they turn solid for a moment when they do that), and you can't make it happen. So it's fair, in my opinion, to use a hack like this to force the ghost to show up, because you still have to just hope your Sim will actually see the ghost.

Ok I am like.. so upset. I download it into the game (I got Sims U), because my main character died and her tomb stone somehow poofed... so I thought that would be awesome. Anyway, I put it on my lot, save, and leave to go to the ATM on a community lot.. I come back, the grave is gone.. (I did assign it to the dead sim) so I tried it again, put it on the lot, saved, this time just left to the map... entered the house again.. gone... UHG! Maybe I'm doing something wrong -reads info at start-

Did you download grave.zip because that is the old file. I left it up there in case it didn't work but might remove it so it doesn't cause confusion. YOu see, with the old file, the grave will disappear if it is unassigned. Also try using the phone of resurrection and see if you can resurrect the dead sim.

Nope I downloaded the new one, and I had made sure to assign it before I left... I really wish I knew why this didn't work, I loved the idea.

I have tried it with Nightlife with mixed results. It seems to sometimes work and sometimes not and I am talking about the older version which I redownloaded, because the newer version didn't seem to work for me at all. The old version makes all the graves in my game into this kind of grave (although I do not mind that at all). I do not know if it causes other problems in the game or not. If anyone installs this to see what it does, do so with caution until an update is made and make a back up of your game just in case. You never know what can happen with an older mod that seems to work it may have hidden surprised for you that you wouldn't expect once you install an EP. I hope an update is made soon, this is one of my favorite mods.

I actually managed to create a haunted community lot cemetery using your Assignable Gravestones. I had to start out with a residential lot, move some Sims in and have them commit suicide (used the InSIMenator to do that) created ghosts with the tombstones, then saved the lot. I went back in and input the code boolProp changeLotZoning true and then the code changeLotZoning community. I saved again and when I went back in the tombstones were still there. I did the whole landscaping, building mausoleum and creating more graves using objects commonly found in the game thing, saved again and went and got one of my Sims and sent her to the lot. I had her go over to one of the tombstones and since I didn't see any ghosts floating around, I clicked on a tombstone and hit create ghost. Up popped a ghost, doing all sorts of ghostly things.

I love your Assignable Gravestones.

That is exactly what I want to do, I need a place where my sims can go to see ghosts. This is the perfect solution!

Default Could you update please?
I'd really like an assignable gravestone that I can also move (via the menu option "move this grave"). the option is unavailable on this. I've also not gotten gravestones, but only urns even if placed outside. Am I doing something wrong?

I'm trying it with NL in a minute. If it works, more power to you!

Edit: nope, doesn't work. I put one on a community lot and tried to visit it with a sim, but the game froze. Meh, it was worth a shot.

Sorry but it definitely isn't NL compatible. I don't know if I'll upgrade it but thanks for testing it out.

Would it be possible to add an option to enter a custom name so that the tombstone says "Here Lies <whoever>" when you point to it? I am trying to create a large cemetery, and it doesn't matter to me if the tombs have ghosts associated with them or not, just as long as they could have names.

Thank you for your work, i've been wanting this for a long time. My Founder's husband's platinum grave went missing shortly after his death. Currently have 5 generations of family graves on the Legacy lot and really wanted him back. All 5 of the platinum urns and the regular urn show up in Buy Mode. I also downloaded your gravematers hack. (Using the newer gravestone.zip) His name shows up just fine in the assign pie menu, yet when i click on Create Ghost, no ghost comes out. Also, his name isn't on the gravestone, it still says urn/gravestone. I have Univ and FFS. I'm just wondering, if it's because currently, there are 2 family ghosts roaming about. And 2 is the limit for me? (Because, whenever i have a sim throw a party, the limit is always 2) I'm hesitant to save yet, in case there's something wrong.

(Edited by poster) My mistake about the Ghosts roaming about, had 3. (Forgot about the locked Maseleum where i keep the urns for those Evil Cow Mascots my Sims bring back from Univ - Can you tell, i don't like those Cows - lol) Also, when i have a sim mourn that grave, his picture shows up just fine in the thought-bubble, so he is attached correctly to the grave. The next night, again, 3 ghosts showed up, so will try for a night with fewer ghosts.

(Edited by poster) Tried again, did it about 8PM (as it seems ghosts start coming out at 8:30 or so). His ghost appeared just fine (2 more ghosts appeared shortly after - total of 3 again) His tombstone still does not show his name yet tho

I tried it at the Goth residence. I had accidentally moved Dina and Nina out of their house and forgot Michael Bachelor. Since Michael was Dina's husband, I wanted to put him where she lives (now married to the youthened Mortimer). When I put in the gravestone to assign Michael, all of the gravestones became assignable, and none of the ghosts mentioned were the ones who were there. Victor, Gunther, etc. What went wrong?
