Overview
This is an update for Add More Traits to Your Sims! by Rainbow_Brite Posted 6th Jul 2010 at 5:05PM - Updated 14th Jul 2011 at 7:56PM. It has some extra code information for later EP's which were released after RainbowBrite left the game.

Things you should know
  • Upon adding this mod, any Townies or NPC's will be automatically assigned the maximum number of traits allowable for their age
  • any New Sim that are generated by the game will be automatically assigned the maximum number of traits allowable for their
  • Editing your Sim in CAS or Modifying their Traits via the Cheat Console, can only be assigned 5 tratis (EA Default)
  • Any active Sims will retain their original traits and will not increase unless you use MasterController or AwesomeMod to add them. (NOTE: I dont have instructions for using AwesomeMod)
    • If you're using MasterController, You will need the MasterController Base Module and the Cheats Module
    • Simply click on your Sim, then NRaas > MasterController > Advanced > Traits > Change
  • Sims are bound by the max traits when traveling, 5 by default or the version max of this mod (8, 12, 16, or 20)
  • If your sim gets an additional trait via social networking, you should decline it. If you're using this mod you already have the traits you want, by game default it will assume your sim has 5 traits and you're adding a 6th one. So if you accept the social trait you will lose any above 6 and will need to re add them.
  • If you're using a mod to unhide traits, all traits will count toward the max total.
  • Sometimes active sims have issues aging up and need to be reset. You may need to remove additional traits, age them up, then add the traits back in.
  • This mod does not affect pets, I've looked for the equivalent tuning for pets, but have yet to find it.
  • Simply removing this mod will not return the trait limit to default, they will still retain the number of traits you gave them unless you remove them. See Below

TO REMOVE ADDITIONAL TRAITS
To remove additional traits with MasterController (you will need the Base Module and Cheats Module)
  1. For the Active Family, click on a Sim > NRaas > MasterController > Advanced > Traits > Drop Traits, then you must enter the number of traits you wish to remove (repeat for each sim)
  2. For Town (non active) Sims, click on the City Hall or any Computer > NRaas > Sim > Advanced > Traits > Drop Traits
    1. then you will need to supply the target Sims - use "Age"
    2. select Young Adult, Adult, & Elder
    3. on the next screen, click on "All" at the top
    4. Now you must choose how many traits to remove (if you are using the 20 max version and wish to return to default 5, then you would enter 15)
    5. Repeat steps a,b,c & d for Teens, Child, and Baby/Toddler Ages

Versinos
There are 4 versions, each one with a little higher max. You can only use 1 version at a time.
AGEDefaultVer 1Ver 2Ver 3Ver 4
Young Adult+58121620
Teen 4691215
Child 346810

I can finally have more than 5-7 traits on a Sim! I can finally give them personalities deeper than a puddle.

Crucial Question
Hi

So excited to find a mod for this! Super impressed! Sad it can’t be used on animals to save me the trip of training ;_; but such is life. Crossing fingers for one day. However I still have a concern:

When reading, it sounded as though all npc’s will too be given max personality traits without my permission. But I only want to apply it to certain characters in my household and others I’ve made. I don’t want anyone to have their traits maxed from the get go, nor to all have the same amount. So my query is...

>>Is it possible to hand select the individual sims whom I want to have their trait capacity expanded, specifically choose by how much, and not allow anyone’s traits to increase unless with my consented volition?

If all npc’s traits are auto-expanded, does that mean those slots are also auto-filled with new traits they normally wouldn’t have had or would they remain empty until I personally fill them? If there’s indeed auto extra slots, I hope they’re at least left empty & only the default traits remain that they’d originally begin with... or if there’s no extra slots at all, then I hope I have the power to hand pick who gets to be unique.

However, at the end of your descriptions, it sounds like I can go to my sim’s computer or the town hall to set the town’s traits back to default or whatever I’d like for each age... but will this also affect my household? And within my house, I want some of the same aged sims to be maxed, others to have a few less, etc - all varying. But what if I have other households as well where I’d like to do this? Will they be grouped into the town changes?

I can only get rid of sims living in houses but can’t wipe clean any wandering around town homeless like bosses, tourists, service workers, etc... (obviously the town wouldn’t function so I’d have to see if I could assign my own avatars to those required roles). Plus there’s population regeneration, so they’ll respawn no matter what my efforts. I wish there was a mod to eradicate everyone so I could start fresh and choose my own civilians lol. I like to go extremely deep in my designing from the root of I can. If I can annihilate all npc’s, this concern for the trait mod wouldn’t matter as much. But even so, I don’t want to be forced to have a max amount for every character if not necessary for my story and design.

Thanks so much for the help, and wishing you all the best!

Warmest,
Ossy <3

This is seriously a MUST HAVE. I've always felt super limited with 5 traits. Now I have to eye the traits list and see which ones I can cut out to keep it to 20! lol i can't even imagine going back to 5 traits. This is an essential mod for me. Can't say enough how much I love and appreciate it. Thank you so much for making this!!!
