Was disappointed when I found out that MTS still does not allow Sims 3 packs for patterns for walls and floors.
I had converted some of my favorite wood textures from my Sims 2 collection to Sims 3:
They can be downloaded on my Exchange studio here:

or at TSR here:

I also made a modern wicker pattern:
These can also be found at TSR or my Sims 3 Studio on the Exchange.
I am in the process of making a Steampunk metal set and a grunge set. Later I plan to make some pretty classic and Victorian patterns available, along with some of my favorite tile sets. Perhaps MTS will change their policy and allow uploads of Sims 3 packs at some point, especially since the current pattern making tool from EA converts them to Sims 3 packs. I hope to be able to share patterns here some day! I had decided I did not want to upload the duplicate package files because I didn't want people to have duplicates of my patterns taking over their games and files.
I think the EA tool makes nice patterns. I don't seem to be able to get more than 2 editable layers, but I think that is fine and just as well. More layers mean larger files, and the two layers will allow for lots of color options for each pattern. I think it works just fine and makes very nice textures when used with Photoshop.
