Building patterns and defective houses

Date Posted: 2nd Oct 2012 at 8:21 PM

After a year of not building for Sims, I built and uploaded several houses to share. I discovered that patterns and furniture was not uploading with the structures. After talking to several other creators, I discovered that this had been a fairly common problem. I have deleted all the defective houses, and won't build any more to share until I know EA had solved this problem. I believe it likely originated with one or more of the patches they installed within the past year. My patterns were made with their create a pattern tool, and uploaded and shared with their game launcher. I do not use any other outside tools, meshes or items in my houses. Sorry for any disappointment from anybody downloading one of my empty houses. I did not realize this problem existed when I built them.

Four More Pattern Sets for Builders and Creators ~FREE

Date Posted: 2nd Sep 2011 at 6:57 AM

Been making a lot of patterns. These are organized into sets (or you may download them separately). The sets are uploaded at TSR, but can be downloaded free, either in a set or individually) They are also found in my studio on the Exchange in separate files.

I converted more of my best Sims 2 tile textures to Sims 3. They can be downloaded and included on any project for any website from TSR here:

Steampunk and Grunge Metal Walls and Floors

Date Posted: 4th Jun 2011 at 8:42 AM

I made more pattern sets for builders. I put them up on TSR in a Steampunk set and a grunge metal set, but they can be downloaded individually. They are available at TSR as well as in my studio on the EA Exchange:

Would love to share these here, but they don't allow Simspack items. Since these are for builders and creators to use and share with their creations, it would not make sense to share these as package files, plus they may needlessly become duplicated in some people's games. Maybe one day they will change policy here, and I can share my textures here.

I'm making new Sims 3 patterns and textures for walls and floors

Date Posted: 15th May 2011 at 6:51 PM

Was disappointed when I found out that MTS still does not allow Sims 3 packs for patterns for walls and floors.

I had converted some of my favorite wood textures from my Sims 2 collection to Sims 3:

They can be downloaded on my Exchange studio here: http://www.thesims3.com/mypage/Brighten11
or at TSR here: http://www.thesimsresource.com/members/Brighten112

I also made a modern wicker pattern:

These can also be found at TSR or my Sims 3 Studio on the Exchange.

I am in the process of making a Steampunk metal set and a grunge set. Later I plan to make some pretty classic and Victorian patterns available, along with some of my favorite tile sets. Perhaps MTS will change their policy and allow uploads of Sims 3 packs at some point, especially since the current pattern making tool from EA converts them to Sims 3 packs. I hope to be able to share patterns here some day! I had decided I did not want to upload the duplicate package files because I didn't want people to have duplicates of my patterns taking over their games and files.

I think the EA tool makes nice patterns. I don't seem to be able to get more than 2 editable layers, but I think that is fine and just as well. More layers mean larger files, and the two layers will allow for lots of color options for each pattern. I think it works just fine and makes very nice textures when used with Photoshop.
