I'm not sure how I will cope with that many sims. My Questions is; Can you do this for one generation only? or can it go on for many generations? I was just wondering.

The scoring only goes as far as the last infant you spawn's life. But I'm sure we're free to keep the rest of them going as long as we want. My moved-out orphans are out and about in the neighborhood living and sharing their lives with one another.
I really like this challenge. When the two main clans in my neighborhood finally all die out, I'm starting it again. Just want to finish off everything I already have started before completely re-installing my game since those glitches from deleting gravestones and from the sim bin are starting to show up in my game.

So, I decided to try this today...

And that's about as far as I got. Played 'em for several minutes, some of them got to eat breakfast. Then, everyone was doing what I didn't want them to do, people were screaming at others for getting in their way, the old lady was trying to play kicky bag, and it was chaos, I tell you! So, I quit and evicted them. Thanks for the challenge, though. It's just too difficult for me I get too frustrated

Default Out & About With the Out Casts
Just catching y'all up with my catching up. I'm bound and determined to get some more competitors in this challenge -- how do I advertise. This is my favorite one -- like the only one I never quit a day or two after starting.

Anyhoo . . . I'm going to really summarize the lives of all the orphans that have gone on to better lives (or not) after moving out. I'll put up links to their albums since there are some really choice pics in them.

Of the original 6 teens, only Conrad McClellan and Lyndsay Akagi are still alive -- they've discovered that drinking green Kool-Aid is the secret of eternal youth. As you recall from posts written back in the day of the dinosaurs, Mehrissa Suwankiri was killed in a plane crash along with Donte Bruenig, Whitney Davison, and Joe Shaw; Willow Lee and her sister, Daisy, were fatally wounded in a housefire when embers spit out of the fireplace.
So, let's take a look at how life went at the home of the four teens that moved out first:

The First Four
Conrad McClellan, Lynday Akagi, Nathen Towner, Mehrissa Suwankiri.

The "First Four" pooled their resources and bought themselves a lot. But money was tight and they were forced to live healthy with plenty of fresh air until they could put up a house. Ree and Fahrquar were frequent guests. The kids kept up their friendships with the "family" they left behind. Mehrissa was killed towards the end of the first week, so this is the only pic with her in it online.

Speaking of friendships, Conrad and Lyndsay discovered they really liked eachother -- a lot. So much that the next thing you know ---

Meet Constantine Akagi. Their little red-headed wonder.

Nathen, Conrad and Lyndsay worked hard and played hard and all three reached their LTW's.

During the sixth week, Conrad and Lyndsay were married.
Attending were: (l-r) Darren, Knute, Afaxia, Fahrquar, Constantine, Erratika, Disturbia and Yoosung. Gothika was also a guest but isn't pictured here.

These Sims habitually get abducted by Aliens. Imagine that. But until the last week I played them, no one had gotten impregnated. Poor Constantine -- he's suffered the ultimate probe and is expecting a greenie.

Nathen turned Elder during the 7th week. Yes, his face is toasted. You'll learn all about how to throw a party in the rain in the next Out Cast section. He turned Elder and got promoted to his LTW on or about the same day.

Lyndsay and Conrad found themselves about to be blessed with a second child during that week, too.

Constantine grew up and found something to pet instead of his half dozen dogs. (His LTW is to raise 20 pets. Good god.)

He convinced Neytiri to move in and she did despite being married to Jake Sully. Next thing you know, Conrad and Lyndsay are being called NaNa and Papa.

Nathen retired and took up jogging since maxing out the rest of his skills seemed a great way to fight boredom. Bad move ----

During the 9th week, Lyndsay and Conrad found themselves blessed with another son.

Conrad holding Lindrad; Constantine holding Constantina.

At the close of the 9th week, lots of Toddler training was going on, Conrad and Lyndsay were polishing off the extra knowledge bits, and poor Constantine is suffering the effects of one Alien Abduction too many.

Here's the Family Tree:

The McClellan household misadventures can be found at: Loose Cannons

Next!

Four of the original six children from Sassenach Sanctuary went to SSU. I put their freshman year in a past post. The other two, Donte and Whitney, were killed in that fatal plane wreck.

Darren, Elise, Knute and Kana lived, laughed, and loved their way thru college. I believe they all graduated on the Dean's List. And a few more skills were maxed. During school, Darren proposed to Elise and Knute proposed to Kana.

After Graduation, the kids threw themselves a party on a rainy day.

Needless to say, almost everyone there got zapped. Nathen kept his charred face for the rest of his life. Kana's face is black from here on out, too, but I think she got that way repairing a pc right before she turned adult.

A few weeks later, Kip did a very short stint at SSU, too. He partied instead of studying and got the boot.

College memories for all college-bound orphans are in: Leapin' Llamas

Darren, Elise, Kana and Knute all moved into a crusty old trailer house together. Darren was a little unhappy until he got into his LTW career. All four did well in their jobs and were promoted quickly. They all reached their LTW's or top of their careers within a couple weeks. The "Triplets" (Disturbia, Erratika, and Gothika) lived with them for the duration of the fifth week but the house was too crowded so they went off to make their own way elsewhere.

Knute and Kana celebrated reaching the tops of their careers by getting married. Soon after, Knute changed careers to Oceanography since his LTW was not in the Architecture Track that he'd reached the ToC.
Knute and Kana never did get an "our" baby. A few days after getting married, they each were abducted and impregnated.

Kana had a son she named Kanute. Knute had twins, Knuton and Knutana.

After giving birth, Kana discoverd that she could be Plant Sim and boolprop her way to owning a cowplant. Oops.

Elise got more than dessert. Darren was distraught. He painted a lovely portrait of her that still remains hanging on a livingroom wall before going outside and eating some cheesecake himself.

Knute discoverd that cow juice and green Kool-aid were great ways to stay young and keep up with the kids. He'd gained some weight while pregnant with the twins (he and Darren both constantly battled that middle-age spread) so on a lark he bought a dance jazz machine thingy. Next thing you know, he got abducted by aliens off that. Once again, daddy-to-be, Knute gets more days off work and is not advancing very quickly up his LTW career ladder.

Kana turned Elder right into the 8th week so Knute gave himself a new look. The kids all turned teen and life went on until little Knutenette was born and Knutana decided it was the two of them together against the world and anyone that stood between Daddy and them. Not too mention, this wierd Alien genetic thing started happening where the kids aged everyday. Wow.

Right after Kana caught Knute in bed with Cassandra Goth, Knutana invited her outside for some fresh air and some ax throwing. Oops. She, also, told Kanute and Knuton that Cassandra wanted to meet them up on the roof to do a little hot-tubbing with them. After they got up there, she pulled a Brandi Broke and removed the elevator.
(My game crashed after that so, Kana was forced to die of old age with a little help from my friends L and D the next time I fired it up.)

By the end of the 8th week, Knute had reached his LTW as Hand of Poseidon, and became a grampa. Other orphans are frequent visitors with Dougal seeing pink hearts and lightning bolts when he gets near Knutenette. Let's hope she doesn't age before the next day is done so he can have his heart's desire.

The joys and sorrows of this happy home can be found at: Shooting Blanks

Knute and Kana's Family Tree:

(Black and white pics are those that have gone on to their greater reward.)

Toddlers? Toddlers? Where are the Toddlers?

Yoosung Almassizedah is the only surviving member of the orginal three toddlers. Joe Shaw was in the plane wreck and Daisy Lee succumbed to a house fire. Yoosung is an Elder living at the orphanage.

This is getting pretty lengthy and it's after three in the morning so I am going to leave off the rest of their stories for another day. After those three batches, there remain the original three infants -- the "Triplets" since they all look alike from when Fahrquar spawned them on Day One. Speaking of spawns, Afaxia, my first bonus spawn, is back to living at the orphanage as you know. Cleighmordh Bluidsplae Thompson moved out and will let you know what he's up to soon; Poughkeepsie "Kip" Akagi has more to say about life after college; Dougal Fahrquarson is one of the four adults at the orphanage with AnaMolly Akagi, Jayla Roennigke and Quaree Fahrquarson still teenagers.

Hi everyone!
I just started my orphanage a few days ago, and it's really fun and challenging. It's tough taking care of eighteen kids, but it's definately better than the usual: two couples get married, have kids, get to the top of their career, have successful kids, etc.

Anyway, I was wondering if you guys could help me by giving me some advice on aspiration bars and points. I have a really tough time keeping their aspirations up, considering there are so many sims in the house, and I really hate it when my sims go into aspiration failure

I tried looking at everyone's LTWs, but most of my kids are family sims, so most of their LTWs are things like, "Marry off six children," "Reach Golden Anniversary," and "Have ten grandchildren."

So, basically, if you guys could give me some advice on keeping their aspiration bars up, that would be great! Thanks

I pause often to check on everyone. If you can keep them fed and watered and getting enough sleep, that's half the battle while the house if full. Toss whatever is in their aspiration wants thingies whenever you can, that helps. And, your Sims might free will themselves into better moods if you have stuff from their interests about the lot. It's hard in the beginning since the budget makes it hard to have enough skilling and leisure activity items to go around.
So, I guess my best advice was : Pause Often.
It is one sure way to constantly keep up with how they're all doing.

Oi.
I have a question, if anyone reads this that is, could I maybe add in a new child every three days, if I were that crazy? I absolutely love this challenge, and I've only gotten to 3PM on the first day. :Ehheh:
So anyway.
Five computer crashes, three founding families and a streak of luck later, The Lost and Alone Haven takes a leap of faith, flaps its wings, and attracts a mob of children through the front door of this one-story, family run orphanage nestled in the hills of Pioneet Grove.

~Here's a back story:
Rachel and Jennifer are two sisters who come from a hectic, dramatic, and sorrowful background. Raised in a house with six other siblings, and of course, two parents, these two are the only survivors of the bunch. Their mother, whom abused many substances, said good-bye to the living when an accidental tumble down the stairs due to un-natural causes. Their father was a man who had his way. With everyone. But when the women of the family stood up against him, he went insane, lit his house on fire and staged it to look like a bad cooking accident. He died along with his clan, leaving poor Jennifer, and toddler sister, Rachel, on their own as the sirens surrounded them at the ashes of their house. Sent to an orphanage with little food, no roof, no floor, and only one toilet, the two vouched to create a better haven for children when they grew up. And all be darned if it didn't happen, once they found Pioneet Grove, and built their first orphanage -- and their last -- a flood of helpless children was washed through the door, police officials, desperate parents, and even the homeless wanderers of downtown's streets came, and more still flock.

I'm working on getting some photos of the gang, no guarantees though!

It's been a long couple of weeks in my sims orphanage, lots of digging, birthdays, promotions, firings, demotions, the whole lot. With an unexpected drop in on Wednesday of the second week, a troubled teen running away from home, (I spawned her to show a friend how it works, she's never cheated and was curious of the humongous number of sims in the family.), who fits right in to the family. Currently pooling cash to upgrade on week four (It's a goal.), lots of mayhem, messes, dirty diapers. x.x Skill building, it's h-e-double hockey sticks but a blast, no photos. ):

I don't know how you guys do it! I just couldn't keep up with everyone - no one was happy, the babies and toddlers weren't being cared for properly and the social worker finally came and took all the younger kids away - just left the original teens. I think it was triggered by the kids doing so poorly in school, but I couldn't get them to do their homework when they were so low in 'fun'. But I really like the challenge and plan to try again.
It may not be part of the rules, but I'd like to add the kids in gradually - like start with the founding couple, one teen, one child, one toddler and one baby. Next day add another teen, child, toddler, baby, etc. That way the original pair at least get to learn how to cook a little, get a job, etc.

Samantha, the hardest parts for me have been the moods, skill building, and homework aswell. The first tip, and likely the only decent tip I have, is to take sims three at a time. Focus on three and get their moods up, assign them a task, move on to another set of three. While the teens and children are at school, focus on the stay-home mother/father, getting her moods up. For getting cooking skills up, use a television /if/ you can afford it. Don't focus on getting her up all the way, after that, you can focus on anything you want. The teens help most if they get jobs, it's an income flow, but the hassle can be in building them up for promotions. I focus on one teen a day for that reason, though they all got a job within the first three days. Good luck on starting it up again! Happy Simming. 8D
Aand dunno about that pattern of spawning, but ees a good idear.

Hey guys, I'm actually rounding up to week six.
In week three, I had four teens max their jobs, which they kept in order to keep a higher money flow. My working sim got three promotions before the newest youngster - a baby boy, and a sick-with-the-flu parent(who kept putting the kid down before diaper changes or feeding to cough) kept her home for two days without paid vacation, she got fired and a chance card docked her pay before those two days! It was horrid! D: The smaller kids all came home with aced report cards, but all of the teens have been lacking in order to skill build and get promotions, I'm wondering why the social worker hasn't come to steal my young ones away. We had two romances this week aswell. One of the boys -- oldest and first spawned, fell in love with the youngest and last spawned female. While the opposite happened to the youngest and last spawned male. I thought it was cute.
In week four, the week with a preset goal, my working parent lucked out and got a job in the same field as before, she got promoted very quickly, and was now working on her next promotion. We've been working diligently to keep her, the toddler, and the now rested up mother on a schedule, it's working wonders. All of the teens have either been fired and the work force has relocated them, or have been promoted to the top and have kept a steady line of cash flowing through orphanage veins. With steady income I had the stay at home mother (Rachel) build up to the bronze talent badge in sewing, mood permitting of course, during late evenings and well into early hours before retiring to her shared and cramped all-girls dormitory, her sleep not lasting long before the youngest of the bunch woke up and cried, all females were up at that time. A special event happened this week! I got a bonus of 50gs out of no where, though it was from someone's line of employment. With that, I was able to completely renovate the building to two stories. The top of the building is all beds, with one clothing rack each, the bottom is split into boys and girls, the special doors keep it as such. The men are now in charge of the youngest of the bunch. Yay girls! All teens grades are up, and each teen has managed to max two skills, some special cases have maxed three, and one has attempted four. We've had a couple birthdays as well, and a set of sisters stumbled through the door. Teenage prodigy, Olivia C-something (She's drop dead gorgeous), and terrible-tow-er, Tiffany C-something. (She looks close to how Olivia does, and they were both spawned with the same last name. Weird!)
Week five brought great sorrow. We had two firings, which was a major impact on the line flow, and we had to sell some of the crafted objects to make money, it was sad to see the potholders and teddy bears go. Rachel is now up to silver talent badge, and I think near gold. Here come the custom clothes! That or I could always just make one uniform for each gender. None of my sims are artists, sad to say. So no one has sold a masterpiece and the building is feeling it (We only have four doors, and none of them are leading into the bathrooms. It's a pain.) Though luckily enough for me almost all of my sims are buddies. More romances though, and a new baby girl - Alexis!
And we're just starting week six, I'm excited!

On the one hand, AAARGH this challenge is difficult! Sydney and Viola Montgomery have only barely managed to keep everybody from getting shut down by social services at least four times, and it's only the first Thursday! And for some reason despite having Free Will on, NOBODY seems to get the ideas of "I'm stinky... I should go take a shower! I have to poo... I should go use a toilet! I'm exhausted... I should go to bed! I'm hungry... I should go grab a plate from that jello on the counter!"

On the other hand, the little things are so much more rewarding. The first batch of tots all learned to talk before they grew up! One of the teens got lucky on a chance card and was promoted in her job, despite not having any skills! Three of the kids learned to study and got A+ report cards! FRIDAY IS COMING.

Alpinloch Home for Wards of the State:

Previously the site of a not-very-successful cattle ranch, this land was snapped up by the Montgomery family for their orphanage.

Outside: A small yard for outdoor activities, and the previous owner's stock pond, still full of fish.

Floor 1: Nurseries, kitchen, living area, master bedroom, and bathroom wing.

Floor 2: Bedrooms for the older kids, and a secondary living area that has yet to be furnished.

Founder Sydney Montgomery, a former delinquent and gang member who can't really get any jobs because of her reputation. She loves people and compulsively seeks a community to belong to, leading first to her gang involvement and now to her work with the orphanage.

Founder Viola Montgomery, a former social worker who became besotted with Sydney and gave up everything to run away with her and possibly pursue her own dreams of success in the entertainment industry.

I decided to use Mr. Humble's donated computer instead of selling it off for some quick money. It has yet to pay itself off, to be honest.

Crowning Moment of Awesome: Thursday afternoon. The kid Sydney's lecturing is one of the starting tots, Rebecca, who was also the only tot to grow up in gold aspiration (the other two were green); the three gathered around Sydney are showing off A+ report cards. I think everybody except some of the former tots has learned to study.

- - - - - -

TL;DR insane but satisfying.

I might even have the nerves to Toddler +1 on Monday.

- - - - - -

ETA: Two more teens scored promotions. The first batch of babies are now kids as well, and the bedrooms have been rearranged to make room for everybody.

Everybody spent Saturday morning fishing from the stock pond. I decided to keep the normally-sized largemouth bass for foodz and sell everything else, so the family earned over a thousand simoleons before Viola and Malcom (a teen) went to work, and still have 9 fish left over. Deciding whether I want to add more bathrooms, add some lights, or prepare for Toddler +1 on Monday.

Saturday afternoon everybody else caught even more fish, several kids went platinum from getting fishing badges, and Malcom, Tyler, and Viola all got promotions! I added a bathroom, a second staircase so the kids don't flip out all the time about being unable to use the stairs, gender-differentiated doors to the kids' rooms, lights (the $15 from the Ikea set, thank you Ikea!) to several rooms, two Easy Bake ovens, an easel so Malcom and Viola can farm Creativity, and have about a thousand left.

Then the fish pond froze over because winter came.

Somehow everybody in the orphanage is being counted as the same household. The good side of this is that the winter bonus for family members works... the bad side of this is nobody in the orphanage counts for workplace promotions. >_< Thank goodness for FreeTime lifetime benefits and being able to reduce friends required by 1!

Sunday afternoon now. Tonight the first batch of kids become teens and look into teen jorbs, and tomorrow while everybody's at school...

ETA: Because I'm bad at keeping track of my scores...

Roster:
Sydney (Founder) (Adult; Popularity; The Law)
Viola (Founder) (Adult; Fortune; Prestidigitator)
Anne (Teen Orphan) (Teen; Knowledge; Education Minister)

+100… new additions (Mateo Matthews)
-5… teen fired/demoted (Tyler x1)
-30… fainting, bladder control loss, social bunny, or psychiatrist (Duncan x1) (Curtis x1) (15 pt ea.)

Hello!

Well! This sounded totally insane and fun, so I tried it! And I totally bombed! LOL! I played my 18 orphans and two adults for about 4 real time hours. The toddlers learned no skills before growing to child, and I couldn't get the kids happy enough to do homework, so they all were failing and the social worker came and took 8 of the youngest away. It was sad and embarrassing...they came home from school, perched on their stacks of unfinished homework (I had never seen them get so high!) and one by one, the social worker led them away, presumably to a *good* orphanage. I wish them well. I tried to learn from the more successful challenge players here (like keeping them fed on jello alone...great trick), but it was my first run, and things still did not go well.

I have been playing Sims2 on PC for about two years now, and I just recently got the guts to play the Newson orphans, and that was more fun and easier than I thought it would be, so I thought I'd be able to handle this. Wrong. LOL! But I really want to try again! It was hilarious fun!

I played for awhile after my brood was reduced, to get some more practice for my next re-opening, and after the social worker took most of the kids, the four remaining children were unplayable...weird...until I took the teens to a store to get them some mp3 players so they'd quit being so miserable, and when we returned, the four kids were playable again. Yay!

I'll admit, I was intimidated and humbled by my failure, so last night I found a hack that makes all kids go do their homework at 7pm every night without being told, if their needs are good enough, and with that, I think I will start over. I also downloaded new cameras so I can take better pics, as I was working with all base game stuff. I only discovered modified content a few days ago and have been going a little nutso with it ever since.

The Caretaker Challenge
WARNING: This is a hard challenge. Be prepared.

Two adults raise five adopted children from toddlers to adults, and then two of those children raise 5 children, and so on.

This is a legacy challenge, but with a twist

PROCEDURE:

Make two adults (male, female, or both) in CAS and give them as much money as you want to. Build a daycare, and have the adults adopt five toddlers (or you can make them in CAS). Raise them, and when they become adults, choose two, and repeate the cycle. You can't send any children to college; each child must move out to a place of their own. Try to make it to generation 8. The 8th generation does not have to have children.

RULES:

NO CHEATING WHATSOEVER (exept for money cheat )
You can hire a maid, repairman, gardener, whatever, just no nannies.

SCORING:
(All of these apply to every person in every generation )

You start with 0 points:

+20 for every toddler skill learned
+10 for every skillpoint acheived (caretakers or children)
+75 for every skill maxed (caretakers or children)
+30 for every best friend made (children)
+25 for every best friend made (caretakers)

-75 for ever child taken away by the social worker
-75 for every death (caretakers or children)
-25 for every aspiration faliure (children)
-20 for every aspriation faliure (caretakers)
-10 everytime caretaker passes out

I'm going to try this. I've made a small orphanage in Strangetown before, I had 1 lady adult who befriended townie teens and proposed that they move in ((Might of been using inteenimater then)).. And i'd help them learn all their skills and such and when they grew up i'd let them leave It was good fun but now i'm going to try this crazy 18orphans + more!

Well, don't judge but I sucked. No one listened and before I knew it we were broke with no money or food and eventually the social worker came. NO JUDGINIG!!!

The Montgomery family went poof when my laptop died, so I've started a new orphanage... using my new winner of the Homeless Challenge!

Storyline: After earning enough money to establish herself in Sim City and wooing the lovely Jocelyn Marlow, Liselle discovered that there were dozens of other sims with no past or background wandering the streets, and together Liselle and Jocelyn have established a home for as many as possible... but, where have they come from?

Progress: All kids moved in, all teens have jobs. CTFG's "Teens teach self homework" hack is glitching, and somehow I had a bug where Richard Williamson spawned in three places at once (Force Error > Delete to the rescue!). x_x

Contemplating making Golden Sun stuff for TS2.
