Default Obscure Batbox Options
I know the "proper" thing to do is to go to MATY and ask, but lots of us are scared of being eaten by Fat Obstreperous Jerks if we go there. So...

I'm sure I can't be the only one who has the batbox (FFS Lot Debugger from MATY) but doesn't use most of the options on it because I simply don't know what they do. So, for starters, can I ask what will happen if I click on the following? :

Memory... Nuke Attraction Markers

Nuke... Scenario Controllers (+AWOL HM)
Nuke... Stuck SFX
Nuke... Sim Schedulers

Fix... Stupid Expressions
Fix... Reenable Controls

I'm sure I, and other batbox users, will be able to think of a lot more.

(This matter came up in the current "Miraculous Conception" thread, but I feel I've already side-tracked that thread more than enough!)

Nuke... Scenario Controllers (+AWOL HM)
- Resets scenarios as far as I know. Inviting the headmaster over to dinner to try and get your children into private school.

Nuke... Stuck SFX
- Gets rid of any effects on a sim. I use it if a toddler has the smart milk 'glow' even after it's supposed to have disappeared. May also work with sims spewing snow/pet food/etc. but I've never had that in my game so never seen if it worked.

Fix... Stupid Expressions
- Fixes sims' faces that are stuck in a permanent grin.

Fix... Reenable Controls
- I think this relates to being unable to go into build/buy mode and save the game after an emergency (e.g. fire).

Pescado made it quite clear that if you don't know what it is, you shouldn't use it. Anyway, those are mostly self-explanatory and there is also an explanation of what most of them do over on the batbox thread itself.

The second one is useful when the headmaster scenario gets stuck (usually signalled by the headmaster getting straight back into his car once he arrives). The last one should only be used when you get locked out of saving - however, it's not necessarily a good idea to use it since the game often locks you out for a very good reason (irredeemable corruption of the lot file).

What does frobnication do?

Basically it has to do with editing lines or something. Only you can't see what you're editing and you kinda have to remember which line is where, and which one you want to edit. At least that is my theory. My advice: No touchie frobnication.

What JDCapo said. There is an option on the batbox to decimate the hood..and don't ever touch it. Don't know why Pescado put it in there, except to tease us to death. He's got a warped sense of humor, that guy!

The next time I need to reinstall I am going to go crazy beforehand clicking on all the options I shouldn't touch and playing with Mrs Crumplebottom and basically doing everything I shouldn't. XD

I would like to say here that going to MATY to ask about anything Sims 2 related, even Pescado's work, is useless at this point. Pescado very very rarely checks the Sims 2 forum, and you're much more likely to attract the attention of his useless hangers-on who have nothing useful to say. Whereas here -- the Sims 2 forums are mostly inhabited by people who play the game and have something to say about it.

Nuking attraction markers is perfectly safe. They're just simple triggers for romance-related wants and stuff. You won't lose much (if anything) by removing them. Many players remove them because attraction markers can become corrupted and bog down the game.

Most of the options are fairly straight forward. The ones that aren't, you probably don't want to be touching.

I use delete gossip from all regularly to ensure no corruption starts, especially if a Sim has recently died.

I'd also like to add to "Nuke... Sim Scedulers" that it also kills the school bus for kids and teens. Took me forever to realize that the reason the school bus never came was b/c I kept clicking this. Reloading the lot will bring the bus back the next day. ~VP

Can you use the batbox (cautiously) with Castaway Stories? Everytime I have my sims cut down bamboo for resources, leaves swirl about them forever! One of my sims even aged to elder with the leaves still stuck to them.

@Mouse I would not use it until the story is over and then you can use it all you want. To keep the leaves from attaching to your Sim do not speed up your game to make it go faster this is 1 reason why it does it.

I was playing with the batbox trying to fix something and I came across the option 'list buggy NPCs'. I clicked on it mainly out of curiousity, but I got a hit. A toddler that is apparently buggy. I've never seen this toddler in game. Does anyone know what 'buggy' means?

Well, with Pescado it can mean anything including 'containing data he doesn't like'. However, I'd be inclined to think it means in some way 'Not Functioning Properly' since he doesn't usually say that without a reason. This is a playable, I take it?

No, an NPC. I've never even met them.

The only NPC toddler you should have is the New Year Baby and that's a universal NPC.

Erm... for a toddler, maybe. But if it's a universal NPC, what can Pescado do about it, really?

"Not Functioning Properly" or not though, we have to leave such NPCs alone.

I checked in SimPE. Not Toddler New Year. Listed under NPCs. Not related to any adults either; totally alone in her family.
