@kestrellyn managed direct x is not the same hassle as newer direct x and/or the issue with GPU issues. It's a small, deprecated, but needed to view meshes in SimPE. It's on sourceforge and linked in the simpe preservation thread. Although for users who get the no direct x error on newer computers, I wonder if this would help? hrm.

^ It's strange, but I don't think I've ever had to install that file, on 4 different computers (and Windows versions, and probably at least 3 SimPE versions as well). How come some people need to install it and other people don't? It's kinda weird.

@kestrellyn, oh good--so you're finally able to check poly counts yourself? That hair is very low poly, btw. In my experience it's meshes/conversions from creators like Anto/Coolsims, Nightcrawler, Leah Lilith, Sintiklia, Newsea, Skysims, and Stealthic, to name a few, are the ones you have to double check. They're not all high poly, but every now and then I open one up and it's 35,000 or something and I know my computer can't handle that. Even the low 20,000s is kinda iffy these days, the way my folder is currently.

But anyway, from what I've seen of Rented Space's work, hairs are usually reduced to be as low poly as possible, so if that's the same Mel, then a high poly hair usually comes with a warning.
