Question about standard practices with game version compatibily
Greetings Fellow Creators/Simmers,

I'm working on an add-on set for the sims 2. I was wondering if it is standard practice to provide multiple versions of the same object for different game versions or if people just post one version that is compatible with the final game version (All EP + SP or Ultimate Collection)? If it is standard to post multiple versions of objects; does anyone know of a list of what objects gained different functionality with each EP? I tried searching on google but it didn't produce helpful results.

Thank you for your time.

I think some people post multiple versions (sometimes on request), but if you want to do that is up to you. I think it's most common to just upload the all-EP version. Just make sure you state which EPs the item was made with/is compatible with.

From memory and probably not 100% accurate and definitely not complete:
- Fridges and stoves - Seasons
- a lot of scratchable and pet-interactable furniture, including bathtubs - Pets
- Bookshelves got functions with both FT and AL I think.
- Outdoor plants and trees - Seasons
- Shelves - OFB, possibly AL/M&G for the shelves added in those EPs.

Okay. Thank you for the reply. I think I'll put in the post or my terms of use that if a different version is needed because of not having all the expansion pack to ask for it and then I'll create and provide it upon request. That way I'm not creating and uploading versions that may never be needed and reducing the amount of confusion about which files to download. You'd be amazed at how many people don't read instructions and just download everything. ... or maybe you wouldn't be amazed.

That's probably a good idea.

And I'm not amazed the least. I've had people download stuff in the TS2 section on my site and wonder why it doesn't show up in TS3/TS4, and people who insist on downloading stuff that I've written need AL/M&G and then they wonder why it doesn't work when they have basegame only (even if that's not possible with those particular items). I think some people just happen to have a strong aversion to reading, even if it can cause problems in their game. These aren't even the worst examples...
