Default Poll: How many of you have the Ultimate Collection?
I'm interested in finding out how many people play the Ultimate Collection vs how many people still play with the disk versions. I used to do the latter, but my beloved M&G disk finally gave up the ghost a few months ago

Everytime I hear people do disks I kinda understand them due to it can be hard to fix the game to work on your pc, heck it took me a month to figure out how to fix the last update there crashed my gameplay!
But with a simple program it was all sorted again and working. I used to do the disk versions just that my disk version kept crashing again and again which was annoying since I couldn't make them run on my computer properly and I didn't know what my ex had done back in the days to fix it.
So I got the UC and does the stuff on my own now.

I have 4 sets of the disk version of the game with one set the complete tri-pack version and the UC.
I only play the single disk version of the game though.

Tri-pack = The Sims 2 Double Deluxe, The Sims 2 University Life Collection, The Sims 2 Best of Business Collection and The Sims 2 Fun with Pets Collection.

I don't feel the need to get UC if I have the disks, although if something happened to the disk I'd be in trouble. It was a real pain installing the game on my computer in the first place - wouldn't want to do it again.

Still using disks on Windows 7. I don't have any plans to change that unless I'm forced to, since it enables me to use the older version of AGS and keep anything I do on Windows compatible with the Mac game I normally play.

Had to get the UC because the disk versions auto patching it does during install crashes on Win 8.1 for me.

I have all old original disks, each EP and SP separate. I just reinstalled on my new computer, I think I counted 18 cases!

I prefer the disks. However, apparently like many here, I downloaded UC when EA first offered it just in case my disks give future OSs heartburn.

I just have the disks, but they don't work on my current computer.

I may have kept using disks, to be honest - because there was a bit of negativity about the UC when it came out. UC players were also sometimes kind of ignored - and some of us had to point out that it does exist and that some of us do use it. The number of UC players have grown and many popular creators use it as well.

However, on changing pc's back then, I broke my BG (the second one in the set) disk. And I could not find another one (I do live in South Africa). I could find every other disk but the BG one. I was not going to pay a fortune for shipping and delivery costs with a free UC available.

I will not even consider going back to disks. The UC runs like butter on my PC and I think it is the 5th year now? I moved the UC from Windows 7 to Windows 10 without much problems.

There is still a box with all the disks (I had all of them except, for some reason, TSS) somewhere in my house. Which I probably will never need again.

UC is a dream to install. Origin does all the work. It just takes a couple of minutes as opposed to the HOURS the discs take.

I got it when it first became available just as a backup for the discs. I had no intention of using it. But, somehow, that very afternoon, it was on my computer and I was playing it. I don't remember uninstalling the game and installing UC; it just happened. But, I'm awfully glad it did.

I'm surprised to see the results of the poll so far. I thought it would lean heavily the other way.

I still have all my discs, multiple copies of some of them. I have them in my ready bag to grab in case there's a fire. Of course, I'll probably be grabbing cats, so I don't know how practical that is.

It occurs to me I might be double posting; I didn't refresh the page before replying. If I am, please forgive me.

I do have UC in my Origin account but I still have the disks installed and don't see a reason to switch anytime soon. My game is complete, fully patched and modded and set up to my liking and it runs well so why should I go through the process of de- and reinstalling and getting used to the changes for the setup?

I play the disk versions. I have all EPs and SPs on disk; though I used to only have a couple SPs until I bought all of them off eBay a few years ago.
I did get the UC as well, but I've had issues with it in the past that have left a bad taste in my mouth, as such I don't have it installed and install everything from my disks instead.

I'm like many people here. I have UC, but I tend to use my disks. Plan on installing Pets this weekend for the first time! My little sister bought that disk and gave it to me.

It seemed like reinstalling the entirety of the Sims 2 EPs/SPs used to take the best part of the day! Plus praying that your discs weren't scratched and you didn't get any installation errors and the oh crap moment when you realise a booklet with a all important serial code has gone missing!!

Because I bought Sims 3 post-2012, I have Sims 3 on Origin. I have the Sims 4 base game on Origin as well (couldn't do much about that). There are advantages. However, if my internet goes out, I can play Sims 2 until it comes back up. I cannot do that with Sims 3 and 4, as far as I know. And for some reason, my internet goes out several times a year. And no, I don't live in a remote area. My cable company is a pain.

I have both UC and a couple disc copies. Before I knew about UC I was building up my Sims 2 collection by buying the physical copies through Amazon (I almost got all of the games but I ran out of money), and I played those games to death on my Win 7 laptop. When I switched from Win 7 to Win 8.1, I decided to give UC a try through Origin and I've been playing it ever since , but I still have the discs in case something happens.

I have UC. My original disks are long gone. I was using the original digital downloads before EA created UC.

Sims 4 has an offline mode. The origin box will pop up, and you just sign in as usual (even without the internet), and the game will start. I can't speak to TS3 on origin (I bought mine on Steam), but it most likely has the same setup.

A year!! What, do you live in Heaven? Here it winks out several times a day. Actually since I complained, that's gotten better. I guess they wait till people notice to fix it.
