Gonna download this one
It works....fantastic, considering the limintations of the objects. I knew someone would figure out how to make driveways that don't have to be flat.

Superb job Hexameter (I don't know if it has been posted elsewhere but could you let us in on the secret of how you managed to build a basement garage), I would download this but I need a bigger house.

That is very nice! The limitations of the garages is killing some of my nicest homes. I am glad that workarounds are being found.

Hallo trinity78000,
sorry that these problems came up in your game. At this time I have no idea what could be the reason for this. Unfortunatly I'm unable to run my game since some days because I have a technical problem with my computer. Maybe somebody else has got an idea for this problem.
As soon as my computer is working again I'll try to reproduce the phenomena.
By the way, till then the house worked well in my game.
Please don't lose your patience. Thanks.

I've got an Idea why the basement is running full with water, I've got the same problem myself, I've like to build buildings with a basement 8 steps down, and when I've tried to copy my own building or replace it, than the basement is standing full with water, so mine finding out is, when someone builds below main floor, than the building can't be copied without the water problem... At least in my neighbourhood Veronaville, but evenso I keep building basements because I like them so much... Hexameter, do you wanna share your secret how you made the garage entrance to your basement???

Hi SpikeMike,
many thanks for the tip. I tested the building with 2 other copies in my neighbourhood and on another computer, too, without this problem. So I hardly believe it. I'll try again.
Concerning the "secret":
There is no secret but only a puzzle of several cheats! Everybody could do it.
I can't descibe it by mind, so I'll build another basement garage and write down the several steps. I'll post a description here within the next days.

Greetings, hexameter

Here we go:

20 Steps to your own Basement Garage
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Make sure to save several times after using the cheats, you never can tell ...

1. Build a basement (7x9) in a distance of 8 squares from the sidewalk
(and as far away from the left border of the lot as you want)
- view from the street -
2. Put a driveway leading to the basement on your lot
3. Delete the basement (5x8) from the future garagedoor
4. 1 level down
5. Put the "parkingplace" into the empty garage
6. Lower the ground outside where you deleted the future garage (wallhight);
best to use a wall as a mesure
7. "boolprop constrainFloorElevation false"
8. Flatten the ground from outside to inside of the garage;
1 row of squares in front of the garage has also to be flat
9. Go on modelling the downway to the garage as you like (lowertool);
Make sure the first row of squares in front of the basement is the same level as the garagefloor
10. 1 level up
11. Flatten the top of the garage/basement
12. 1 level down
13. Delete the wall serving as mesure and flatten the outside terrain; correct the basementfloor (1 level up + flattentool)
14. "boolprop constrainFloorElevation true"
15. Build the frontwall for the garagedoor
16. "moveObjects on" (maybe not needed)
17. Put the garagedoor in the frontwall
18. 1 level up
19. "moveObjects off" (to be sure)
20. Choose a floorcover and put it on the floor

That's all - you got your basement garage! No secret - no big deal.
Congratulations!

It's up to you to build the house of your sim's dreams around.

(If requested I would offer this with some pictures)

Thank you for being curious to learn how it works.

Great tutorial Hexameter, I will try, I've tried it a couple of times but I didn't get it right... when I made a basement garage for my old home I will put it also on this site, so you can judge if I made it properly... LOL...

"parkingplace" works with move_objects cheat on...on the other hand, I used different ways and I got my basement garage!!
